When I started interning at WILPF eight years ago and was just entering this field, I was told about Edith, who originally came from Czechoslovakia. As a Czech myself, I was excited about the opportunity to connect with her and learn from her. A few weeks later, we began exchanging emails, and she kindly invited me for a lunch she prepared. We had steak—which we slightly burned 🙂 – but it was still delicious! We spent the afternoon talking about her life and stories.

I will always cherish that time with Edith. Over the years, I’ve often replayed that special afternoon in my mind.

Thank you, Edith, for being so kind and for sharing your wisdom and life journey with a total stranger.
