In the 90s Edith was President and I was Secretary General of WILPF in Geneva. A time where the bi-polar world, the Cold War time came to an end and the International community held a series of global conferences on human rights, on women, social common goods. Edith was very much connected within different NGO committees to strengthen, to reform the United Nations and to build Civil Society access to the UN. She tirelessly assisted, advised and networked with women and men from around the globe related to peace movements, to bring their issues to the UN. Her profound knowledge of international relations and the United Nations internal processes impressed me very much and so did her generosity and discipline in sharing this knowledge in a strong spirit of solidarity, with all those who brought their political demands for justice and peace to Geneva. Edith did not separate professional and private life, nearly always there were activists, WILPF and non WILPF members, welcomed in her house to discuss, to plan, to eat, to laugh. Decades later, since 2019, I have come twice a year to Geneva for human rights issues and visited Edith each time. Her human warmth, her interest in global affairs, her informed strong criticism of war driven politics made each meeting a pleasure. Only in January we planned to have a meeting with the incoming Secretary General of WILPF to see what the new kid on the block is thinking … Thank you Edith for everything, Love Babsi
